I haven’t photographed The V. Family since Lula was one! Luckily for me, they’re close friends of mine, so I get to see these adorable faces any time I want. (I guess I could see Lula and Petra anytime I want, too hehe). This session was kind of a ‘twofer’: family session + girl’s birthday photos. Lula’s 3rd birthday was August 6th and Petra’s 1st birthday was August 3rd- hence the adorable outfit switch later in the session. The weather was perfect, and the sun setting behind the tall grass was even better than perfect! I love the colors that it produced and I love how it highlights Lula’s “blooful” (beautiful) little ringlets in her hair.
Both girls brought along their favorite toys for the session: Lula had a penguin named Penny, and Petra had a little mouse- although you couldn’t really see it because she was manhandling it into her mouth the entire time. One day (really, really far into the future I hope), the girls will be too big for these cute little toys, and sadly, they’ll be just a memory. I am so happy that Mom and Dad will have photos to remember how much their girls loved these. That is exactly why I tell clients to let the kids bring whatever toy or blanket or stuffed animal that they want. Do it. Seriously. You’ll thank me later, when you have photos of their tiny little fingers clutching their favorite childhood toy.
