I was so excited to shoot this downtown Detroit family session for The M. Family. Detroit is a popular spot for engagement and wedding photography, but for some reason, there aren’t a ton of family sessions shot there. Just throwing this out there for my future family sessions: let’s shoot in Detroit!
Erin and her brothers, Jack and Connor, knew without a doubt that Detroit was the location for their surprise session for their mom. They planned their entire afternoon as a Mother’s Day gift for her! So when they met me on the steps of The Detroit Public Library, Pat had no idea why everyone else was shaking hands with a random stranger with a camera bag. Surprise family photo sesh!
What was most important to The M. Family, was documenting their bond as a family, in a location that they love. They were honestly so fun to shoot. I felt like I was hanging out with my own family. We just walked around and explored together, joked around and laughed a lot. And Connor and Kristy recently got engaged, so I loved being able to grab a few shots of the two of them.
