I recently had the pleasure of shooting an Editorial Style Engagement Session for this beautiful couple.

David & Vera wanted something a little modern & chic, yet sweet & natural, for their engagement pictures. Knowing their personal style already, I knew downtown Detroit would be the perfect location for them.

When the day of the session came, the weather was calling for storms- hail, rain & high winds. We decided to take the risk because we planned to be inside for a lot of the shots. So before we were set to meet at 11:00 am, I did some walking around a little bit, and found myself across the street at the Detroit Public Library.

As I made my way back towards Woodward Ave. to cross the street, I saw the two of them standing on the steps of the museum. As soon as I saw them, the clouds cleared just a little bit, and suddenly the sun was shining. The sun stayed out for the rest of the session, and it wasn’t until I arrived home after the session, that the storm rolled through. It was a bad storm (complete with golf ball sized hail), and it started just 40 minutes after wrapping up this beautiful engagement shoot. How’s that for ‘meant to be’?!

 We started at Detroit’s DIA, the Detroit Institute of Arts. Everything inside of the DIA is stunning, not to mention the architecture, floor-to-ceiling windows, and the abundance of natural light shining through them.

We ended our session at The Roasting Plant. It’s located right in Campus Martius Park, on the lower level of the First National Building, with huge wall to wall windows. Which was perfect for creating editorial style engagement pictures for this set of the shoot. *Side note: if you haven’t had a cup of coffee from the Roasting Plant, and you’re a coffee fiend like myself, you need  to check The Roasting Plant out. I can’t even tell you how good it was. YUM!*
