Northville Newborn Photographer

I’m a Northville Newborn Photographer, and this is one of my favorite in home newborn sessions I’ve documented. Photographing a newborn at home when there’s an older sibling involved is so special. The house already feels full of life; toys in the corners, little footsteps running through the halls, and a big sister trying to understand how this tiny new person fits into everything.

This in-home newborn session in Northville, MI was exactly that kind of morning. Calm in some moments, a little chaotic in others, and completely real. One of the reasons I love photographing newborn sessions at home is that families don’t have to do anything differently for the photos. No packing up the diaper bag. No worrying about keeping the baby asleep in a new space. Instead, everything happens right where life already is.

The nursery where you’ve been rocking the baby at night. The couch where everyone piles together. The bedroom where the quiet snuggles happen.

This Northville home had beautiful natural light coming through the windows, which made the entire session feel soft and relaxed. We moved slowly, letting the moments happen naturally instead of rushing through poses.

The best part of the session was watching big sister step into her new role. Sometimes she wanted to hold the baby. Sometimes she wanted to climb into her parents’ laps instead. Sometimes she ran off to grab a toy to show us. And all of that was perfect. When siblings are involved in newborn sessions, I never expect them to sit still or smile on command. Kids experience this transition in their own way, and giving them space to move and interact naturally always leads to the most meaningful photos. Some of the sweetest moments were the simplest ones: big sister leaning in close to look at the baby, gently touching tiny fingers, or curling up next to her parents while they held both of their girls.
