Man this fresh 48 newborn session at Troy Beaumont Hospital gave me the most extreme baby fever ever.
I had met Esther and Mike for their maternity session and was sooo happy when they decided to do a fresh 48 session instead of a newborn session at home. Don’t get me wrong- I really love a good in home session for newborn pictures, but there is nothing like those first few hours after having your baby. Everything is brand new! (Not to mention, I barely remember my time at the hospital with my babies, so the pictures are truly all I have to reminisce on those moments). Troy Beaumont is one of my favorite hospitals to shoot at too!
I love how I can really get into an almost photo journalism style of photography with these sessions- just taking photos of everything as it is. I take pictures of everything at these sessions- the room, the cards & flowers, bracelets, dad’s makeshift bed that gave him permanent neck damage 😂 etc. It all tells the story of life. You and your brand new baby, learning each other, and experiencing a brand new love unlike any other. Hospital rooms are rarely pretty, but when you strip away everything decorative, it’s really about the subject and the art of documenting life. And that to me, is beautiful.
So meet baby Dominic! Cutest little guy ever. I was so excited because I got to document his first ever bath, and getting his footprints done- which he was very unhappy about, but the bath smoothed everything over!
