NATURAL METRO DETROIT FAMIL PHOTOGRAPHY BY KELLIE OVERHOLT PHOTOGRAPHY

Christmas Tree Decorating Session, Northville

When Katrina said she wanted to do an in-home session decorating their Christmas tree, I was a little over the top with excitement. It was October-ish, and I was already feelin’ the cheer, as they say, but didn’t want to fully commit to said cheer, ya know? Then I did this amazing in-home session with The B. family, and got home to edit/obsess over these photos… and thus began my full blown get-into-Christmas mode, and I spent days breaking a sweat up and down my stairs, dragging boxes out of storage. This was one of my favorite sessions of 2017 for so many reasons. They had a horse farm at the back of their property, and we hung out with them for a little bit. I’ve always loved horses, and can sit just watching them for hours. They just have such personalities and spirit. I don’t know… I’m mesmerized by them! It definitely added something a little different to their session, and I would love to shoot more sessions with these beautiful creatures. (wink wink, people who have horses!) The other cool thing about this one, was the weather and time of year. We somehow hit the sweet spot in between Fall and Winter, and were able to get Fall looking photos mixed in with Christmas time photos. Best of both worlds! It was a little chilly, but Briana and Harper were awesome, and they didn’t seem to mind. Especially when they got to bury daddy in some leaves 😂

So happy Katrina had this great idea to photograph them decorating their tree. I’m overly sentimental about Christmas time, and I so wish I had photos like these. Maybe this year, I’ll try and recreate their session for myself! Thank you to The B. Family for such a perfect session!
