Say hello to the sweetest family ever! Right away, Brittany and Michael welcomed me in like a friend- and I felt like one too! I even held Leah for a few minutes (which was pure baby heaven for me). At my newborn sessions, I don’t usually have a need to handle the babies at all. I direct mom and dad to move the baby whenever needed, and it works out perfectly! But gosh, I could not resist when they asked me if I’d like to hold her 😭 When I arrived, they had the cuuuutest outfits all laid out for their session, and so many adorable bows to choose from. I like to keep clothing simple, much like Brittany & Michael did for their session. Mebie Baby, Jamie Kay, and Blossom and Pear are all great places for classic and simplistic outfits. A white onesie or just a plain old diaper always works beautifully too!
The P. family had such beautiful light in their Ann Arbor home. That’s not always the case when I go to a client’s house and I have lots of tricks I use to combat low light. Give me a window and/or a door, and I can create beautiful and timeless images of your new family! I also don’t need a ton of open space, so if you’re worried that your living areas might be on the smaller side, don’t be. You would be surprised with some of the photos I’ve been able to get in a doorway- and you’d never even know that it was shot there. You can view some of my other newborn sessions here!
The newborn time of life is magic, and no amount of sleepless nights, feeding issues, not showering/brushing my teeth, or dirty diapers will ever change my mind! It all goes by so fast (broken record phrase), and I’ll never feel like I have enough documented photos of those times of my life. If I could give any expecting family two pieces of advice it would be to savor it, and document the crap out of it. Hire a photographer- doesn’t even have to be me, but it can be wink wink. You will never want to forget these days!
