This rainy day family session in South Lyon was my definition of a perfect session!
What goes good with rain? Ice cream of course!
This sweet family. This was their second year in a row with me, where their session got rained out- both times they just rolled with it and did the session anyway! And I love them soooo much for that.
We centered this session around their favorite little downtown area, where they like to hang out and spend time together. When we first met up, the weather was not looking great. In fact we all sat in our cars for 15-20 minutes trying to wait it out. Once it dulled to a sprinkle, we took cover under a few awnings and just rolled with it. And thennn the rain started coming in way more. Luckily, there was a cute little restaurant right on the corner, where the kids were content to just have thumb wars with each other. Of course, the restaurant also has hand scooped ice cream so that was a must on the list of things to shoot.
As they ate their ice cream, we all realized that the rain wasn’t going to let up, and they said ‘F it. Let’s just have fun.’ And while I don’t necessarily like being caught in the rain with expensive camera gear, I would do it over and over again for a session that turns out like this! We had the best time out there dancing and playing, and I guarantee the kids will remember that day forever!
