There is nothing like a winter maternity session, and this location in Milford, MI is the perfect backdrop for it!

Winter maternity photos are my favorite time to do maternity sessions (unless we’re talking about beach maternity photos like this one. Winter sessions take second place to beach maternity sessions 🤣). I’m not crazy about freezing my butt off, but a fresh snowfall and a baby bump just does it for me.

Sam wanted a maternity session that felt casual and natural, and those are two things I can get down with. She planned a long flowy gown for the first half of our snowy winter maternity shoot, and then a more relaxed bare bump look for the last half of the photo session- loooove an outfit change for maternity sessions! When she booked with me, she told me knew that she wanted an outside session with pine trees. I had the perfect location in Milford for that. There are so many pretty backdrops at this spot; with a forest unaffected by Michigan’s ever changing seasons. We don’t typically have a snowy setting until January/February, but for whatever reason, November decided to be snowy and 18 degrees that day.

So a few things- yes, it’s cold. But it’s sooo worth it to document this time in your life, no matter what the weather is like. Life happens year round! Something that all of my winter maternity clients have in common is that they’re all bad asses 🤣 they don’t ever complain about the cold, they’re ready to go without their coats (we take a ton of coat breaks though), and in Sam’s case she’s ready for some bare bump photos- my hero!
